What a busy weekend.......

The life of an expat can result in some insanely busy weekends - I have never said 'it doesn't rain, it pours' more than our time in India.  It always seems to be that all the best functions are on the same weekend !! Not that I'm complaining - my liver may be but not me :)  and it makes for some very quiet Mondays.

Last weekend we had the AFL football grand final and we decided to invite a heap of people over to learn a bit about our beloved afl, and as it turned out, help us drown our sorrows :(
Our poor Swans were not helping us showcase the sport, but we all had lots of fun eating lamingtons, having a snag on a roll with dead horse, and just a couple of stubbies.

We had a variety of nationalities here  - Dutch, American, English, Irish, Swedish, French..... it was lots of fun showing them our wonderful red and white.  As you can see, we went a little overboard with the decorations.  My toes were amazing - cannot believe how good they turned out.
Maybe next year the Swans can help us out a bit and win !?

After the disappointment of the Swans loss we had to brush ourselves off and get ready for the next party of the day - an Over the Top party (OTT).  It was a combined farewell and birthday party for 4 friends here in Palm Meadows.  The OTT theme had me in a bit of a quandary - I do much better with a Saints and Sinners, Black and White, 70's, 80's etc........ this was just too open for interpretation.

I felt that the more I tried the uglier my outfit was going to turn out.  So I tried to reign it in a bit but still went OTT PINK !!!  the hottest of hot pink, and there is no shortage of finding crazy clothes here in India - for once in my life I actually had fun shopping for this, as the crazier the better !!

Mike decided his OTT was going to be 'overdressed' and wore Black Tie.  Of course, he had a super pink bow tie to match with me !!  There were some very fun outfits with lots of colour, feathers, men as women, women as men........ some fabulous outfits.

The kids came along for 10 minutes at the start to see all the crazy costumes but were swiftly sent home to bed.  Lucky it was just around the corner.

It was a fabulous night with fireworks, lots of great food and drinks, fun music and sore FEET !!  Oh, and the obligatory sore head the next day.

Mike has now headed to London for 10 days, so it's just me and the boys over a long holiday weekend for Dusshera.  Not sure what we're up to but will keep you posted.

Fireworks which were in the Diwali league
