First impressions

Well, Mum and Dad arrived yesterday and I think the initial thoughts of India were all ok. The weather was good, the nice and tidy airport, quick exit and the Innova and I waiting to pick them up.

The airport area was all nice and tidy, beautifully manicured with ladies weeding by hand (using the best tool possible, a screwdriver). Then we exited the airport and the reality of India kicked in. Rubbish, traffic mahem, feral dogs, cows on the road, dirt, no traffic rules...... The list goes on and on. There was a lot of 'oh my gods', and laughing as we drove home but all in all, they took it in their stride.

Then we arrived at Palm Meadows and they smiled. They both like thed bubble and wonder why we ever leave. The tennis courts will get a workout, the shop has a few familiar items - but not exactly foods that 'make a meal'!! Dad was pleased there was Heinz ketchup - I pointed out to him that it's not exactly a filling meal 7 days a week.

A walk around the gated community and some 'cracks' appeared in their first impressions. Bare wires, holes in the footpath, the garbage 'truck' ( more like an oversized tuk-tuk). They are still impressed but can see some faults.

They have met a few of our neighbours and see why that part of life is good - we are very lucky to have lovely new friends.

Today we will venture out and see a few fun things. Mum and the boys are planning in mehndi tattoos. I might even find a sari or two for mum. Until next time....
