Over the weekend we participated in one of the school fund raising days - the International Food Fair. With so many nationalities making up the school community it is an annual event where each country (or small group of countries) has a food stall and you can sample these homely culinary delights and each nationality has a cultural event as entertainment/amusement for you to participate in.
Our Australian/New Zealand stall had sausages on the bbq - easy and always delicious !! and we also had a AFL Auskick stand for all the kids to have a go at learning to bandpass and kick a footie.
Some of the other stalls were: the South African stall had some delicious Boboties, the French had lots of quiche and crepes, the Brits had a casual High Tea, the Dutch smuggled dutch sausages and cheese into India - as only the Dutch can do, the Germans had meatballs and sauerkraut, and the Americans had lots of brownies and pulled chicken rolls. The Asian stalls did very well with Sushi and a Korean BBQ, and the Indians had a traditional Thali with Samosas. There were many more - too much tempting food for this girl.
For the kids there was a Bouncy Castle and the pool was open for them to play in - thank goodness, as it is really starting to heat up here in Bangalore. A few hours of fun after the 1+ hour drive and then back home again - a great way to spend a Saturday.
All the money raised will be used for 3 charities and a couple of school projects. The charities are the The Morning Star Ashram (a local boys orphanage), the Iksha Foudnation (A charity for children with eye cancer) and the Stonehill Government School (a local Indian school founded and funded by the Stonehill private school that our boys attend)
