The school our boys go to has a wonderful tradition of having a rickshaw decorating competition at the end of the school year. Each of the 4 houses get 2 rickshaws each and the Pre-schoolers get a rickshaw all to themselves.
They get a box of decorations and a theme - this year 'mythical creature' ! I have to say the first 30 minutes was extremely chaotic with kids running everywhere and lots of tinsel and balloons floating around. The senior members of each of the teams managed to get some organisation happening and things started to take shape.
The junior members were very cute with lots of cutting and glueing and I was very impressed with their creative ideas. Mythical creatures started to take shape and the kids were getting very excited about the upcoming parade. There are 3 children randomly selected to ride in each of the rickshaws as they grandly drive around the school before the winner is selected.
The afternoon was very hot and sweaty but the kids had a ball and where else in the world would you be able to decorate a rickshaw (tuktuk) like this ??
