Well we've made it through our first six months in Bangalore and celebrated bringing the new year in at the Marriott hotel here in a Whitefield. The hotels here in Bangalore tend to cater highly to the westerners on New Years Eve but last night at the hotel, they managed to have a lot of Indian guests as well - they did this by having one of the popular radio stations broadcasting from the courtyard.
The All Stars Party was sold out and the atomsphere was great. We checked the kids in to the 'kids section' and had a lovely dinner with lots of our new friends. The entertainment in our area was the Australian trio 'Xplosion' who were great. Not exactly great for dancing but fun to watch and listen too.
We then went to the main ballroom for some dancin !! It was a very Indian vibe - lots of 'cool guys' (well they thought so), variety of dress codes (ball gowns to jeans) great music and dancing. We did have a laugh that one of the huge drawcards for the Indian men were the 'Vegas Showgirls' on stage. A girl on either side of the DJ dressed in very little but lots of feathers. Mike and I were not very impressed but did have a good laugh at lots of the Indian men with their phones and iPads taking pictures of the girls.
We went and got the boys at around 11.30 and brought them down to the disco. Their first time in this sort of thing - they enjoyed it, but Max thought the music was a bit loud. We did the countdown to midnight - had huge Nairn hugs and kisses and then ventured out to the car to come home. There was a bit of a delay - fireworks at the entrance!! Poor Max was so tired he wasn't impressed that we couldn't get to the car.
