We are on our way........

I am currently sitting on our Cathay flight from Sydney to Hong Kong after 7.5 weeks of fun at home in Australia.  It has been the best holiday we have ever had - in Max’s words ‘epic’ !!  I now have the time to reflect on all the fun we have had and how special this time has been.  We had the chance to truly relax and enjoy time with family and friends, which rarely happens as we all seem to be rushing from one place to another.  I have to thank so many people for making the effort to ensure we all caught up - whether it be for a coffee or ‘awesome’ nights.  However, I don’t want to name names, as it will inevitably lead to me forgetting a few - not in my heart though.  I hope you all realise that if we saw you, we truly were grateful for the catchup.

We had 2 State of Origin parties - which the boys thoroughly enjoyed, even if the wrong team won !! This also gave us the opportunity to meet new friends who will now stay very close in our hearts while we are away.  The amount of ‘farm stuff’ the boys learned over the 5+ weeks we spent at the farm will remain with them forever - whether it be castrating calves, learning to ride their motor bikes, fencing tips, pulling weeds or just spending time with their Ma and Pop.  Jack and Max will truly miss ‘smoko’ at 10.30am daily.  We have had so many laughs and fun times that there are too many to write about, needless to say Max had us in stitches on many occasions.  The numerous barbecues with friends and family, and the endless games of afl and cricket catches will be greatly missed.  I am not sure how Pop will cope working on the farm without his little shadows.

We had the chance to see another side of Australia when we headed to Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney - albeit a bit cooler from QLD…….  The boys had the chance to experience some new things in Canberra - the War Memorial, Questacon, the Botanic Gardens and the Flipout trampoline space - which they all really enjoyed.  All tied together with some family time and dinners with great friends - we truly are lucky.  Maybe next time we can arrange a meeting in the summer time :)

Melbourne was, as always a great place to visit and we always enjoy our quick but ‘large’ nights out with friends.  We managed to visit the haloed MCG and the National Sports Museum, which we all thoroughly enjoyed.  We even managed a trip to the top of the Eureka tower - 80 floors above Melbourne - what a view !!  The AFL in Melbourne was a little disappointing with the boys’ beloved Swans missing out on a win but we still cheered louder than most.

Our time in Sydney was ‘even more awesome’ as we got to catch up with lots of school friends - thanks to those that made the effort to catch up and show the boys they are ‘not’ missed too much.  We managed another trip to the footie, and this time the right team won - go the Swannies !

We leave with a very heart but also with the excitement of another year ahead of us to complete our Indian adventure.  We still have a number of places to visit and we are hoping to get these all done with our without visitors.  On the agenda are:  a safari in Kabini, Sri Lanka, Calcutta, Udaipur, Varanasi, Chennai, Dubai and the Himalayas for Christmas …….So, if you have the travel bug and want to see what all the craziness is about, we would love to have you visit and enjoy the head wobble with us.

Thank you Mum and Dad for everything you did for me in the 7.5 weeks - I know it was incredibly sad to say goodbye but we had an absolute ball !

So, I am back blogging and lots of adventures ahead of us, starting in Hong Kong for 3 days.
