Commitment

It's Saturday here in India (our first weekend in our house) and Mike is at a team-bonding day for work. It's an all day affair and all staff will attend. Most staff members had to be at the office by 7am to be transported to the venue. This type of commitment to work is so common in India. Mike said to me last night, "imagine the reaction I'd get if this was proposed to staff in the Sydney office?"

It's very common for most staff to work 6 days a week in India, and there are no complaints. Lydia (maid), Anthony (driver) and the gardener all work Saturdays and do it with a smile on their face. With a population of 1.2 billion - most know that if they do not commit to the work at hand, then someone else will replace them quickly and for less pay !!

However, there are 3 of these team-bonding days in the coming month ( for different departments) and Mike will attend two of them. As the Manager it is expected he 'commit' too. And he does.

The boys don't understand not having Daddy for their precious weekend - and they are sick of the sight of me !

Lets hope this 'commitment' rubs off on our boys.
