India is full of extremes - rich and poor, loud and peaceful, chaotic yet oh so organised. And this 'organisation'was so prevalent today.
Our first day here and we were at the Leela Palace hotel sitting by the pool - yes it's a corporate hotel, so in Max's words "way fancy!".
With the boys merrily playing in the pool. Two pool attendees are walking around the pool area, one of them very animated and pointing at the chairs and floor. They are moving chairs around enthusiastically, albeit by milimetres. Towels being moved - they went around every chair at the pool, and as we were the only people there I asked if there was an issue - the more senior member said no - just teaching my friend that the chairs were not as expected - untidy work. Seriously he moved them by miliimetres for them to line up perfectly !! The below photo was the other side of the pool not yet 'amended' !! And they proceeded to adjust every chair to perfection.
Then in the foyer we were sitting and the cushions were the pride and joy of one lovely staff member. Every time a person left the chair he would re-fluff the cushions and realign the chairs to be perfectly in-line with the lines on the marble tiles.
My first impressions of India are chaotic but then you see this calm, logical approach to ones job. I wish we could all be so proud of our work.
